Between 1979 and 1981, AC Cesena joined a wave of Italian teams embracing modern sports branding through a technical kit partnership with pioneering label Pouchain Sportswear. This alliance, part of Pouchain’s broader campaign including clubs like Roma, Lazio, Palermo, Udinese, and Cesena, contributed to one of the earliest waves of football merchandising and kit design innovation in Italy.

Pouchain provided Cesena with branded kits and sports jackets during these two seasons, introducing fans to an early form of kit-based identity and fan merchandise. Cesena was among the first Italian clubs to showcase Pouchain’s now-famous “fish logo” .

The classic piece features:

  • A white base adorned with horizontal black stripes,
  • A chest logo pairing Pouchain and AC Cesena.

The partnership signaled a significant shift for a provincial club like Cesena. With club and brand logos prominently displayed, Cesena embodied a new commercial image. Pouchain’s visual language—including stylized logos, apparel consistency, and match vs. off‑pitch gear—transformed Cesena’s public identity in a pioneering way

Although the collaboration lasted just two seasons, it contributed to a moment when clubs could blend regional pride with modern sportswear aesthetics. Today, Cesena’s Pouchain replicas are treasured by collectors for their understated design and historical value.
